Check the Background Activity

If you see your Mac is running slow, go to Activity Monitor and check what’s eating up your computer’s resources. Open the app in Finder -> Applications -> Utilities - > Activity Monitor. Here, check what consumes CPU time. If something takes up too much, close it.

Delete Unneeded Items from Startup Disk

If too many apps boot up right from the start, it may cause a serious slowdown of the system. To solve this issue:

  • Hit Apple icon, choose System Preferences, Users & Groups and choose Login Items;

  • Select unwanted startup applications and hit the minus sign to remove them from startup.

If nothing works, you can reinstall the update or get back to your previous macOS version. But in most cases, these tips significantly improve your Mac’s performance.
