Arbitrary Labels On X-Axis?

Recommended Posts

I have a chart here - It's a line graph plotting integers vs dates. I've used the showLabel attribute of the set tag to only display the first day of the month on the x-axis.

What I'd LIKE to do is instead of showing dates on the x-axis: "1/2/2009, 2/2/2009, 3/2/2009" is show just the month name: January, February, March while still showing all those per-day data points (not just having 3 data points - one for each month).

I don't think the "labelStep" attribute of the chart tag would help here.

Is there a way I'm missing to display a different value on the axis than what shows up on the tooltip/chart? Or any other way to do what I'm trying to do?

<chart caption='Summary' subcaption= '2009 First Quater' xAxisName='Date' yAxisName='Count' numberPrefix='' showLabels='1' showColumnShadow='1' animation='1' showAlternateHGridColor='1' AlternateHGridColor='ff5904' divLineColor='ff5904' divLineAlpha='20' alternateHGridAlpha='5' canvasBorderColor='666666' baseFontColor='666666' lineColor='FF5904' lineAlpha='85' showValues='0' rotateValues='1' valuePosition='auto'><set label='01/02/09' value='1' showLabel='1'/><set label='01/05/09' value='11' showLabel='0'/><set label='01/06/09' value='13' showLabel='0'/><set label='01/07/09' value='11' showLabel='0'/><set label='01/08/09' value='17' showLabel='0'/><set label='01/09/09' value='9' showLabel='0'/><set label='01/12/09' value='12' showLabel='0'/><set label='01/13/09' value='17' showLabel='0'/><set label='01/14/09' value='20' showLabel='0'/><set label='01/15/09' value='17' showLabel='0'/><set label='01/16/09' value='14' showLabel='0'/><set label='01/19/09' value='18' showLabel='0'/><set label='01/20/09' value='9' showLabel='0'/><set label='01/21/09' value='20' showLabel='0'/><set label='01/22/09' value='23' showLabel='0'/><set label='01/23/09' value='11' showLabel='0'/><set label='01/26/09' value='18' showLabel='0'/><set label='01/27/09' value='13' showLabel='0'/><set label='01/28/09' value='20' showLabel='0'/><set label='01/29/09' value='10' showLabel='0'/><set label='01/30/09' value='9' showLabel='0'/><set label='02/02/09' value='17' showLabel='1'/><set label='02/03/09' value='14' showLabel='0'/><set label='02/04/09' value='13' showLabel='0'/><set label='02/05/09' value='15' showLabel='0'/><set label='02/06/09' value='19' showLabel='0'/><set label='02/09/09' value='17' showLabel='0'/><set label='02/10/09' value='16' showLabel='0'/><set label='02/11/09' value='24' showLabel='0'/><set label='02/12/09' value='15' showLabel='0'/><set label='02/13/09' value='22' showLabel='0'/><set label='02/16/09' value='19' showLabel='0'/><set label='02/17/09' value='18' showLabel='0'/><set label='02/18/09' value='16' showLabel='0'/><set label='02/19/09' value='14' showLabel='0'/><set label='02/20/09' value='12' showLabel='0'/><set label='02/22/09' value='1' showLabel='0'/><set label='02/23/09' value='18' showLabel='0'/><set label='02/24/09' value='23' showLabel='0'/><set label='02/25/09' value='16' showLabel='0'/><set label='02/26/09' value='14' showLabel='0'/><set label='02/27/09' value='8' showLabel='0'/><set label='03/02/09' value='11' showLabel='1'/><set label='03/03/09' value='14' showLabel='0'/><set label='03/04/09' value='17' showLabel='0'/><set label='03/05/09' value='17' showLabel='0'/><set label='03/06/09' value='19' showLabel='0'/><set label='03/09/09' value='20' showLabel='0'/><set label='03/10/09' value='14' showLabel='0'/><set label='03/11/09' value='22' showLabel='0'/><set label='03/12/09' value='23' showLabel='0'/><set label='03/13/09' value='15' showLabel='0'/><set label='03/16/09' value='14' showLabel='0'/><set label='03/17/09' value='11' showLabel='0'/><set label='03/18/09' value='18' showLabel='0'/><set label='03/19/09' value='13' showLabel='0'/><set label='03/20/09' value='13' showLabel='0'/><set label='03/22/09' value='4' showLabel='0'/><set label='03/23/09' value='19' showLabel='0'/><set label='03/24/09' value='11' showLabel='0'/><set label='03/25/09' value='18' showLabel='0'/><set label='03/26/09' value='23' showLabel='0'/><set label='03/27/09' value='13' showLabel='0'/><set label='03/30/09' value='14' showLabel='0'/><set label='03/31/09' value='9' showLabel='0'/></chart>

Thanks!

Hi Andy,

Welcome to FusionCharts Forum! :)

I am afraid, this is natively not possible with FusionCharts, as of now.

As a work-around, you can try providing blank <set> elements for the first few data-plots and a <set> element with a label somewhere midway in the month to get the label displayed in the middle of the month.

Hope this helps. :)
